Odisha skipper Biplab Samantray and left-arm spinner Dhiraj Singh were today included in the 16-member East Zone squad for Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy Inter-Zonal T20 League, scheduled to be held at Mumbai from February 12. The team will be led by Manoj Tiwary with Saurabh Tiwary as his deputy.
The East Zone squad includes five each from Bengal and Jharkhand, three from Assam, two from Odisha and one from Tripura. The selection meeting was convened by CAB President Sourav Ganguly and Chaired by Devang Gandhi. Others present were Arup Bhattacharya (Bengal), Debasis Mohanty (Odhisa), Asish Sinha (Jharkhand), Manimoy Roy (Tripura) and Subhrajit Saikia (Assam).
Bengal`s Pragyan Ojha and Pramod Chandila and Odhisa`s Suryakant Pradhan from Odhisa are in the stand-bye list. Jharkhand`s Rajiv Kumar will be the coach of the team, while Arup Bhattacharya will be the manager.
East Zone will first meet Central Zone at Cricket Club of India, Mumbai on February 13. Subsequently they will take on South Zone on February 15, North Zone on February 16 and West Zone on February 18.
